Test Pressings Arrive Today: Wes Tirey Sings Selected Works of Billy the Kid

We are mega stoked that the test pressings for Wes Tirey Sings Selected Works of Billy the Kid are set to arrive today from the mighty Smashed Plastic in Chicago. We'll be listening deep inside the grooves high into the evening. If you haven't ordered the record yet, blast your joy meter off the scales by ordering here. This is a limited edition pressing of 250, and copies are going fast.

Some literary background about the album: the words sung and spoken on Wes Tirey Sings Selected Works of Billy the Kid are from Michael Ondaatje's novel of free-verse vignettes, The Collected Works of Billy the Kid. The book was first published in 1970. We are very much looking forward to sending some copies of the record to Michael Ondaatje, whose other celebrated works include The English Patient, Warlight, and his newest amazing collection of poems, A Year of Last Things, published in 2024.

A couple of playlists recently gave Wes Tirey Sings Selected Works of Billy the Kid some sweet air time: One Chord to Another and Days Have Gone By (Takoma Radio). Check'em out!

And finally, we'd just like to draw your attention to the totally buff album cover by the artist and musician Nathaniel Russell. We're lucky to have Nat's amazing contribution to this release. The artwork fits so well alongside the best covers of Michael Ondaatje's book over the years:

We hope you enjoy this singular and inspired work from Wes Tirey. Wes Tirey Sings Selected Works of Billy the Kid is available in all the usual streaming places, and the vinyl is now up for pre-order on Bandcamp. Projected release date is July 19.
