We at Sun Cru are honored and thrilled to present Alex Homan's brilliant new psych folk record, Placate, a mesmerizing tour de force of radiant, intimate songs that Alex wrote and recorded between 2024 and 2026.

The transcendent zones of the music reflect the journey of how this album came to be. Many friends inspired and were involved in making the record, and Alex's own recovery from a serious injury played a significant role in the process.

From Alex:

"Placate has been with me for the last several years, officially the longest I've allowed myself to work on anything. In those years, countless friends have inspired me to put forth some of my best work yet.

"After spending 8 months healing from an intense car accident, I was able to move and work again toward the end of 2023. It was then that I did two short tours with my dearest Paco Cathcart, whose music has always sung directly to my heart. Upon returning from those tours I was filled with the inspiration to write new songs, something that traditionally has been difficult for me to do as quickly.

"For the next couple years I was able to perform these songs around New England, allowing them to grow. Meanwhile, me and Sam became bar owners, and I began my journey as a bartender in the gaps between working on this album. I'd play the songs, let them rest while I worked, and then come back, often re-recording entire songs."

Placate was mixed by Alex Homan and Steve Johnson, and mastered by Jordan Romero. The album features the artistry of Zoie Reamer (singing on "I'm Knot"), Austyn Wohler (singing on "Archmage Blues"), Chad Beattie (hammer dulcimer on "Archmage Blues"), Stone Filipczak (drums and flute on "Leafwarden"), Nina Ryser (singing on "Holy"), and Shane Justice McCord (woodwinds and piano on "Holy").
