Writing for NPR affiliate WOUB, Emily Votaw recently penned an excellent review of The Peel's new album, In the Ferns: "[T]he album hums with a sense of play. There’s an unforced yet intensely focused energy behind it — a creative appetite that favors intuition, driven by a desire to hear differently and make the familiar feel new."
Votaw specifically delves into five tracks on the album, including one of our personal favorites, "Woods."
"Woods continues the album’s exploration of mood and motion. Instruments converse in loose, breathing phrases—groaning, gasping, sighing. Rhythmic slips and tonal dissonance heighten the sense of spontaneity. Like much of the record, Woods works in layers: it can settle into the background or draw you into its shifting, inner world."

Check out the full review on WOUB, and be sure to pick up a copy of In the Ferns on vinyl or add it to your digital collection. Both formats can be found on Bandcamp.
And be on the lookout also for the best music video you'll see this summer. It's coming from The Peel later this week! We'll keep you posted.
