Please join us in welcoming the mighty Plankton Wat to Sun Cru!

Bandleader Dewey Mahood has assembled massive talent to record Plankton Wat's new album, The Vanishing World, which is due out on Sun Cru next spring — March 20 to be exact!

Fans of Plankton Wat already know, but Mahood's music (including his work with legendary psych band Eternal Tapestry) comes from a place of radicality that rejects modern capitalist systems. Without a doubt, there's a spiritual quest underway here, and we're invited to enjoy the musical forms the journey takes. Each of Plankton Wat's albums is a vehicle for exploring and coming to know the inner visions of our shared spiritual existence, which is ultimately unconcerned with the trappings of job-money constructs. The music of Plankton Wat is sublime, blissful, as far out as it is far in.

To record The Vanishing World, Dewey Mahood brought together longtime Portland collaborators Dustin Dybvig (Brass Clouds, Rose City Band, Edibles, Talkdemonic, many others) on drums, piano, synths, and vibraphone; James Shaver (Abronia, Million Brazilians) on bass; and Victor Nash (The Decemberists, Orquestra Pacifico Tropical) on trumpet and production / engineering. Mahood's own guitar and vocals lead the way through The Vanishing World.

We've been listening to the tapes, which were mastered by Amy Dragon, and they jam so hard. The fantastic cover art is by Dylan McConnell. We can't wait to release this record, which will be available on CD and digital.

So please join us in sending a big warm welcome to the great Plankton Wat, and keep your eyes peeled for fresh jams after the New Year!
