"Just the stars, please" first appeared, in an earlier form, on Little H Collective's 2023 ambient masterwork, Beyond the Wonder. That initial composition was begun using Bloom, the musical mood-setting app created by Brian Eno and Peter Chilvers. Little H Collective then added layers with heavy effects, courtesy of Chase Bliss, to finalize the stunningly beautiful, significantly shorter version that you hear on Beyond the Wonder.
The entirety of the original "Just the stars, please" was based on two segments of sound created with the Eno/Chilvers app. Each line was run through the Chase Bliss Habit at different settings. Habit then recombined one line, morphing it endlessly. The other line was given a more standard reverse delay that was processed with the granular synthesis app, Borderlands.
Over time (here we are in 2026), the sublime cosmic adventure of "Just the stars, please" pulled Little H Collective (a.k.a. Stephen Harrison) higher into the celestial realm. Immersed in the sonic vibrations of his own protective nebula, Harrison created an extended, longform version of "Just the stars, please," which we are now pleased to present here.
This extended version was created by remixing the original track. Sections were chopped, reversed, and manipulated with delay and reverb plugins.
The blissful stretch of "Just the stars, please" relaxes the back of the neck, encourages a meditative state, and gives expression here on Earth to the outward melting dreams of stars. The effect on the listener is very human, yet more. It's easy to imagine this as music for a long-distance space flight. At some point you cross the threshold of our solar system. The little remaining gravity is gone, and because our life is born of stars, "Just the stars, please" connects us to our eternal kin.
